Get On Your Boots (16 Feb, 2009)
Produced By: Brian Eno, Danny Lanois Steve Lillywhite
Engineer: Richard Rainey
'Get On Your Boots', released in January 2009, is the first single from U2's 12th studio album 'No Line on the Horizon' produced by Brian Eno, Danny Lanois and Steve Lillywhite.
Irish radio presenter Dave Fanning, a champion of the band's music since before they ever signed a record deal, was the first DJ to play the new single - at 8.10am on The Colm & Jim-Jim Show on Ireland's RTE 2fm on January 19th. A few minutes later the single began streaming on U2.Com... and on radio stations worldwide.
The video for the single is directed by French film maker and artist Alex Courtes. Shot in London it features the band performing against complex graphic art designed by Courtes, who (with Martin Fougeral) directed the Grammy winning video for 'Vertigo'.
'We came up with 'Sexy Boots', and everyone got very excited by the idea and we pursued it, but in the end we just thought it was a bit limiting, and so we took it in another direction. That's the way it often happens with U2'.
