Much Respect, Aung San Suu Kyi

'I Respect and Thank Them Very Much,' says released Burmese opposition leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi of artists and activists like U2.

In a BBC interview by Ko Moe Aye, released Burmese opposition leader Suu Kyi, is asked about U2, who dedicated their song Walk On to her.

Ko Moe Aye: Among the international community that supported you and the NLD, you must have heard about the song written and sung in your honour by the world famous U2 band. What message do you want to send to U2?

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi: I am very thankful to U2 for the consideration they have shown towards the Burmese people. I also admire them because I have learned that they are also engaging in many other humanitarian activities. Artistes like them are not only a credit to the arts but to mankind as well. I respect and thank them very much.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said she has been able to move freely since her release and has visited several UN projects and supports the humanitarian aid. Suu Kyi added she saw " projects that greatly benefit the people". She expressed her dissatisfaction with the slow release of political prisoners.
