It Lives...

27
Show Designer Willie Williams has been in Belgium where the new production is being built.

'It lives...Towering above the Belgian town of Werchter stands this structure which I've had in my head for two and a half years already. Strange and humbling to finally meet in the naked, steely flesh.
'We were slightly shy of each other to begin with but soon broke the ice, being a sunny day and all.I feel like we're going to become good friends. I hope so: we have many miles to travel together.'

More behind the scenes news from from Willie as the opening night in Barcelona comes closer.

the whole building the new stage, feels like Area 51 became public and theya re building a massive super weapon or something..........does it remind anyone of the tripods in war of the worlds or the spider in wild wild west....my god this production is magnificent, I just can't wait to see it ..it's even scary how big it is

Exceptional to see the nearly-complete structure. Also impressed with the center (off-center?) spire, which appears to be an external, outwardlight source, destined to highlight the members of the audience in the vast outdoor venues that the tour is visiting.“Ahhh, ambiance.”

I remember my amazement upon seeing the top of the PopMart Stage jutting out of The Cotton Bowl in Dallas at age 18. I can't wait to see this stage with my own eyes!

War of the Worlds!
It looks like U2 is preparing to take over the world with this monster! Hey, I thought they told us not to become a monster in order todefeat a monster? U2 sure knows how to do it up big for the fans, can't wait to see it all live in Toronto!

Magnificent!
Just an amazing structure, in such a location any way! It's like a gigantic spider just invaded Werchter. At least we Belgians get the honours to see it live for the first time, a smallrelief for the non-passage of the tour through our country later this year. We'll meet in London, go spider - go!
