Mercy: Now Streaming.

Today, November 26th,  U2 release a three-track live EP, 'Wide Awake In Europe'.

Released to  celebrate Record Store Day, the EP is only  available from participating North American stores. Read more here.

This limited edition vinyl EP, is led by a track that has legendary status for many U2 fans. 'Mercy€™  has been in progress for a while and was featured in the setlist of the 2010 European leg of U2360°. The live version on the EP was recorded in Brussels on September 22nd 2010, and is the first time any recording of the track has been released.

And just for our U2.com subscribers, for 48 hours  we're streaming 'Mercy'  - as well as 'Moment of Surrender' and 'I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight' , the two other tracks on 'Wide Awake In Europe'.

As always U2 is the best rock band in their live performances, and this album is a other desmostration of this.

Getting better
When I first heard the album, it isn't one of their best but the live versions show why U2 is the greatest live band I've ever heard. Would love to hear Bad more often. They would be better to mix up the set list and make each show unique to itself. Going to see them in Philly and Montreal and would hate to travel to two countries to hear the same show.

Why?
The songs sound great. Wide awake in Europe would have been a great EP to have. I was in Brussels when they played Mercy. So why not release the EP in Europe. I realy don't like it. This sucks :-(

GETTING BETTER
Everytime I hear a U2 song played live, they just add an extra dimension to it. If you go to a concert expecting to hear what they play on the album, don't go. How the songs evolve is the power behind this band.

GONE CRAZY
I love the live version. Not one of my fav tracks on the album...but this is an awesome live! I loved it Melbounrne and went nuts especially when Larry came out from behind his drum kit! And what can I say about the vocals.....UNBELIEVABLE!!

Feline delight
Strangest thing my cat starts to purr and loudly at that when Moment of Surrender plays. She has mommies taste in music. All Tracks are great as usually. Waiting for July 2 to see them again.

This song is OK at best
Why is everyone so afraid being critical of this band? Not everything they touch is gold! "Powerful song" "Beautiful lyrics" ...give me a break, the lyrics are terrible. They have been my favorite band for a long time now, but they do release some stinkers from time to time.

OLD GOOD MERCY (2004 version)
I hope that the band return to the more beautiful version of the demo studio of this song that can be really a new classic. In my opinion the vocals and music changes removes more of the pathos and emotional intensity so i think that to work too much on a song can be damaged!

I love this song. I actually like the old lryics better as well. Hope they keep this song for the next CD. Change the lryics back though.
