'U22' - The Tracks

After tens of thousands of votes, U2.com Subscribers have decided which tracks will appear on 'U22'.

We asked you to choose your top 22 live tracks after listening to 46 the band played on U2360°. Three months later, the result is the first crowd-sourced U2 live collection.

You didn't just cast your votes. You also engaged in impassioned argument on our boards about which tracks should appear, which should not - and why.

In the end the great divide was between those of you who wanted 'U22' to become  a collection of the band's 'greatest' live tracks and those who wanted it to capture songs the band rarely perform, tracks hardly ever released live.

The results are fascinating - spanning nine albums and thirty years, excluding some of the most familiar songs and featuring some total surprises.

'This is really going to be a special CD.' said Adam, when we caught up with him this week. 'I wasn't expecting some of these tunes, it's a really fresh collection and it's going to make very interesting listening.'

what a surprise!
what a brilliant sound, after all these years, still as powerful and an intensity that can not be beat, I'm taken ... all great movies! and thanks for all the years of the joy of music and live shows, which was allowed to experience.

Nothing beats the live shows
All these tracks are outstanding tracks and I will love listening to them all BUT, nothing beats the buzz of seeing them play live, the atmosphere is just so electric...I really hope they do another tour. Have to say that my favorite album is Zooropa because it produced some extraordinary "outside the box" tracks like Lemon and Numb, which showcases the bands versatility. Oddly enough, my favorite tracks are not on Zooropa, they're on Achtung baby. My #1 track "With or without you" - no contest. Bring on the next tour.

Breathe, Simply Stunning and Powerful
I saw U2 at the Rose Bowl, Breathe was the opening song and it was Magnificent and strong, the best opening song of the tour. The Anaheim show was great as well; Disneyland and Angel Stadium were the happiest places on earth on that night. I thank U2 for loving us fans as much as we love them. However, the icing on the cake, would be a digital download of Breathe from the Rose Bowl concert, just saying. Keep up the good work, can't wait for the next release.

Where Is CRAZY...
That's an easy question to answer. Obvisously those asking having been members oif U2.com for long as if they had been they would of heard the live version from Croke Park on Artificial Horizon, given away last years. Love the set list but would have loved to have heard "Return of the Stingray Guitars". It was an amazing start to the Aussie concerts!!!

with so many songs left off that we love it would be really kind of the band to offer mp3 downloads of the missing songs. too many songs off of no line where discarded. the whole point of this tour was to push no line. and for some of us it was a masterpiece of an album. i know many fans who have their complaints but to me it was a work of art. as much as i love them, if they became an oldies touring band i don't think i would continue to shell out the big bucks. so for those of us who love no line, who consider this the no line tour, it would be nice to have official audio of those songs and this website could easily offer downloads for members. but let me just finish by adding that anything they do, i love. they are the greatest show on earth. they are the greatest recording band. they are simply the greatest

Can't we all appreciate the gift, why complain? We have all been blessed to enjoy the music for decades and I'm sure we all have memorable moments that can stay with us, celebrate the moment and enjoy it when you first play U22 from start to finish. Enjoyed all the shows I was able to attend and look forward to the new album.......

Still haven't found...
It's a great list. But not really the "definitive 360 set list." More of a greatest hits album. I think Boots should have been on there. Say what you want about the song. It's AMAZING live. And no Vertigo? Man. I hope the version of Magnificent was the Desmond Tutu version they played on the last leg in North America. It's great!

i was hoping
i was hoping the songs like scarlet, an cat dubh, the electric co and my blue room would make it as we dont ever really hear them live espically on a live cd or maybe u2.com would let us chose maybe 30 live tracks over the 30 wounderful years of u2 its not really askin much as we al love the band they had some great tracks on the rattle and hum movie. what do ye think an say of this matt eire

I think the fans got it right...
The list of 22 songs makes perfect sense to me (if we had to choose only 22). We (the fans) left off many NLOTH songs because we decided they're not as good as songs from other albums. I can't wait for my copy. Thanks so much U2 and staff!

Great songs / Great CD - Make The Rest A
Don't really see how people can complain too much. As long term subscribers will know, Audio CD's of whole live concerts have been given out in previous years and so it's refreshing that a different approach has been used this year. I expect very few people have theire entire wish list on the CD but if we are honest, it was nigh on impossible to narrow the list down to 22 songs. What would be great would be for the remaining songs to be made available for download at some stage.

Surprising
Vertigo, Get On Your Boots, and Return of the Stingray Guitar got axed! These among others surprised me that they missed the cut. U2 just has to much good stuff, maybe you guys should just make a 4 CD pack with all songs on it! Can't wait to get my copy ! Cosmo1

eternally gratefull
Just wanted to drop a line and say Thank You to the band, I have been a life long fan and have seen every tour that has come through Phila. Pa. I am eternally gratefull to have experienced some of the best humility life has to offer and it came through a band called U2. I hope you guys continue to pour your hearts into music and share every ounce with us, your fans! cause Lord knows I will follow!! Rock on U2

where is crazy??
loved the remix of crazy on U2 360 - it was really a really special and modern treatment of a U2 song!! would love to see it on a future release (or as a supplement to this album??)

No Subject
I was not including DVD releases, I am well aware that those songs are on DVDs, (Ultraviolet was on the Rose Bowl DVD), but I'd rather have them as MP3s to be able to listen to them on a mobile device, in the car, put them in a playlist and whatever else you can do with regular songs and CDs, not have to scroll through a DVD on the TV or computer. And the "Crazy Tonight" remix studio version is not very good compared to the live... Either way I am happy with this CD, and would have been happy no matter what, it's still live U2. Yes, Achtung Baby is my favourite, towards the end of the tour U2 began celebrating the upcoming 20th anniversary and perhaps played many older hits just to round off, but NLOTH is a great album too, I have never been disappointed by U2. There's plenty of other songs I would have loved to see on the CD, but more live U2 in general is all I want, I love all of their songs.

Weak!
no Unknown Caller, no Breathe? Only 2 songs from NLOTH!!!!? This is just another greatest hits collection that doesn't even represent 360 very well. We do NOT need new live tracks of Streets, One or With or Without you... I agree with everyone putting it out there like me. I have been a die-hard U2 fan for well over 20 years, but this is crap. The flip side is that Boots did not make the cut, and Zooropa did (hip-hip). I am still with you boys, but how about a B-sides online follow-up?... and let's strip the greatest hits from the next tour. Even the Boss knows to do this every few years.

Vertigo3333 - 02 February, 2012 - The Achtung Baby tracks were all (except Ultra Violet) on the ZooTV Live From Sydney CD which was the freebie a few years back. Beautiful Day and Walk On were on the U2 go home (Slane Castle) CD which was also a freebie a few years ago. '40' is of course on the legendary Under a Blood Red Sky, while Crazy Tonight is easily available (it was on the Crazy Tonight CD single release). A chance to have the NLOTH tracks, like Breathe, NLOTH, Unknown Caller, and a release for Stingray Guitar was missed - NLOTH was the album this tour was meant to support, not Achtung Baby....

Great initiative
I think it´s great the fans got to pick their favorite tunes for this uniqe live album. So thank you for giving all of us this oppotunity to select some of our new and old favorites. It is a wonderful gift that will be a great reminder off a truely spectacular concertexperience.

what's the big deal?
i know i am not going to send mine back when i get it because a song or two was not on it.the band is spoiling me because the more i hear the new and old songs live the more i like them if that is possible.they play their new songs great and their old songs even better.how many other bands are doing this for their fan website right now?not many i am guessing.

You know the world would be a much better place if people learned to be happy and grateful rather than whinning about anything and everything. I think it's SOOOOO cool U2 gave us fans this opportunity. Thank you Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry. All because of you, I am.....:-)
