'Not Gonna Leave You Stranded...'

22 January 2010

Speaking to a global audience of tens of millions, George Clooney, the prime mover behind 'Hope for Haiti Now' described the earthquake that hit the Carribean island on January 12 as 'a tragedy that reaches across all borders, all boundaries...the Haitian people need our help. They need to know they are not alone.'

A stellar cast of musicians and actors, performing in three locations, included Madonna, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay and Jennifer Hudson. In London, Jay-Z, Bono, The Edge and Rihanna performed 'Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)' a song written and produced within the last week.

Bad song - Good cause
I've been a U2 fan for a very long time. And Bono's voice is good, but is toned down by Rihanna's. Rihanna does not fit in this song at all.. Bono should be the lead singer, and not backing vocals... I support Haiti, but they deserve a much, much better song.

Brilliant
it's so interesting and metaphorical I really like it - 3 different vocal styles interchanging so none is left stranded - they juxtapose really well. Really great chorus - and I love the ending. Have pre-ordered! cant wait to download!

Sound check-Bono's mike
I loved the song especially the chorus but I really wish I could have heard Bono's voice. Bono never minds sharing the spotlight but please turn his mike on.

WHERE WAS LARRY AND ADAM ?
Bono and Edge without Larry and Adam ,well it just does not work no matter who they circle themselves around !
Panth - 23 January, 2010
Sorry but
It was written in a few days and shows. Rihanna takes alot away from it. Sorry but, they took time away from the album for THAT?

Stranded
Have to agree w/pheijlands. If there was no video, I wouldn't even know that Bono was on the track.

Stranded
Love it!! Brilliant choice of artists. I can't stand rap myself, but this is a charity song, and it will appeal to a wider audience than if it was only U2. Thus, it will make more money for the people of Haiti.

Great song!
Unlikely collaboration, but it worked brilliantly! I'm glad to see that 100% of the proceeds as well as the donations are going to the Haitians. We feel the loss and sorrow all the way here in Boston. I can't say enough about Bono and U2's contributions to humanity. Thank you U2!

Can't hear it!
Aw I can't hear bono :( His mic sounds really low.
harkingill - 23 January, 2010
Very Inconsiderate to slag off song
It doesnt matter how good or bad the stranded song is the point is its trying to raise money for a very needy cause. Why dont you just donate and stop being so picky. This is a very worthwhile cause! Anyway I think the song is good! Its great to see people helping!
jm3163 - 23 January, 2010
Love It
I heard this song on MTV and I thought WOW, this is a great song. More than likely I will buy it. I am certain it will raise a lot of money for this serious cause.

Great music. Not a fan of Jay-Z. To much Jay-Z Would have been a great song with just Bono and Rihanna.
