'A Large Day'
Sheffield. Show day.
What a large day. I feel like I either have to describe it with a very few strokes or dedicate the rest of the week putting it into a tome.
In short, my home-town show didn't disappoint and my army of guests had a great time. Bono was a trooper, worked the hospitality room, said hello to all my peeps and bigged me up all round. He also decided that it was fair game to introduce me to the stadium audience and have the whole of Sheffield sing happy birthday to me. (There's a certain amount of poetic license at work here, but it would be fair to say that today could be considered to be the opening of my birthday season).
It was something of a strange feeling to have U2 in Sheffield, amongst my roots and my friends and family. Two places, two situations that are both extremely comfortable and familiar to me but that are never combined. A little like that feeling when your parents would turn up at school and you feel a little vulnerable (oh no... not that story, please.)
Went to bed smiling.
