Alligators and Jellyfish
Friday 16th October 2009. Cancun. Day off.
There's nothing quite like waking up in a Mangrove swamp on the Yucatan Peninsular. Especially on a Friday. At breakfast, Sharon was a little wigged out at having spotted an alligator outside her room. She has the 'end terrace', so her balcony and jetty are immediately adjacent to the heart of the swamp and apparently a substantial alligator has taken up residence next door.
I spent much of the day in my cottage working away. Highlight of the afternoon was discovering another bathroom to go with the two I'd already got. I opened what I thought was a sliding wardrobe door only to find another whole place behind it. You can't have too many bathrooms, I always say, especially one with its own outdoor courtyard and a bath that could comfortably accommodate Sharon's alligator.
Smasher's been working non-stop but finally managed to take an hour off this afternoon so headed to the beach which is a five-minute golf cart ride away. He dived into the ocean and was immediately stung by a jellyfish. I'd say that’s the last time he'll leave his bungalow before we head out of here.
Wrapped up the day with another productive evening meeting on Bono Island, followed by a late beer with a side of mosquito spray.
