Brussels, production set-up
Managed a fairly leisurely start to the day as I am keen to pace myself and not run out of gas by 2am. Progress at the stadium has been steady but much is still far from ready to rock. This is unsurprising, given that its the first time this has all been assembled and much of it is brand new technology straight from the factory (and of course its all very big). I feel a bit like the kid who gets a new toy for Christmas with batteries not included.

Patience is key to the process and every hour brings new questions, new alterations, assembly, disassembly, hanging, rehanging, plugging in, waiting. Ive shifted a few things around and feel that a lot of gooddecisions have been made in the last 24 hours, which is encouraging.

It was a late night again, though in all honesty I didnt achieve a hugeamount. We saw pictures on the smaller video screens but not on the main large one, so I wait with bated breath to see if its going to look any good (no pressure). We did get to see some lighting looks, including part of a row of 18k (very big) movie lights which are spread across the stage. They are very bright and consequently very hot, and unfortunately we did manage to set fire to part of the video screen, but I dont think the damage is irreversible. Lessons were learned and were going to have to careful about how that part of the system gets lined up.

We finally got out of the stadium at about 4.30am. I felt encouragedoverall, even though it would have been nice to see more of the production working tonight. It seems nothing short of fantastical that its now early Monday morning and we are going to do a show to 50,000 people this very Friday, but I know we will and it will be marvelous. We have some extraordinary people building this beast so confidence is high, even if rationality is raising its eyebrow a little.
