Day Off - London-3
The term 'day off' is being used somewhat loosely here, as there is a mountain of work involved in preparing for the next few weeks. The gigs at Slane Castle are all but upon us and production manager Steve Iredale is already there, sending back progress reports and photos of the quagmire, sorry, I mean venue. There's video shoots and MTV on top of all this and it's usually easier to deal with these things on a non-show day. It's amazing how much time going into a gig and putting on a show takes out of your day.
As the evening rolled in I began to hear reports of what the lighting crew got up to last night. The result of careful forward planning, they threw a party on a double decker bus which started off parked at the back of Earls Court and ended up driving all over London all night, like the tourist excursion from hell. On board they had all the requisites for extreme fun, i.e. loud music, a bar & the tour caterers, and set sail into the night. Needless to say, what started out as a select gathering ended up as a free for all, picking up half the road crew and all manner of extra passengers, moving from nightclub to nightclub and descending upon Fintan's flat for breakfast. I think they sent the driver home at about 10am.
