Day Off - Montreal

I haven't had a night out like that for a while, so I was surprised I didn't feel worse when I levered myself out of bed. Mind you, I didn't get up till 1pm which probably took the edge of the hangover.

Had lunch whilst being interviewed by some chaps from 'Der Spiegel', a large circulation German newspaper which recently published an article on how Britain is now a third world nation of ugly, stupid people living in poverty. Through an act of great self-control, I managed to keep my sarcasm vaguely at bay whilst talking to them over a Croque Monsieur. It was a bit of a weird interview, to be honest, as the guy wanted to know all about my life on the road with David Bowie which was not only a long time ago, but not especially relevant to an article about this U2 show.

Slipped out later and spent hours in a large bookshop, which was a wonderful waste of an afternoon - in fact it was nearly nine o'clock by the time I got back to the hotel. Sat in the coffee shop there for ages and took some time to write to my cousin, whose Christmas card to me, posted in Wolverhampton on December 15th, arrived in San Francisco when I was there last week. Spending half my life on a computer, its always a real treat to sit down, write a letter on paper, stuff it into an envelope, stick on a stamp and pop it in a post box. Hopefully it'll make it to Wolverhampton before the year's out.
