Day off - Seattle
Had a (very) late breakfast with Ken Stringfellow, who's one of the 'additional musicians' with R.E.M. Joe O' came too, as he's also part of the R.E.M. family. Ken took us to a wonderfully down market cafe called the Green Cat. Its exactly the kind of place I like to hang out - comfortable, low pressure ambience, shockingly poor service and commendably surreal menu (e.g. curried tofu with chili sauce on garlic toast - for breakfast.) This place could well make the Willie global top ten cafes, currently headed up by the Black Cat in Melbourne (no relation), the New Piccadilly in London and the Cove Cafe in San Francisco.
In the evening, Arthur Fogel from the tour promoter's company SFX, decided it was high time we all had a beer, pizza and pool night, so organised same at a local pool hall. It was great too, a big place down by the water where we played, ate, drank, won & lost for the best part of the night.
