POPMART Leg 4: 1998, South America

Day off, Dublin.

Much to my surprise I spent most of my day off in Court number 27 and I dont mean Wimbledon. The court case between U2 and their former stylist from the Joshua Tree tour has been well documented in the press, so I am not going to comment on it any further, but suffice it to say it involved a good number of our touring party being at Dublins Four Courts for hours. It was a small court room which was absolutely jammed with press reporters and curious barristers popping in for a look. It was also stiflingly hot and with nowhere to sit it made for a very long day.

Upon escaping, I spent a good part of the evening dealing with what we are planning to do for the Live 8 show on Saturday. So far the details have been pretty sketchy, so I made some calls and responded to e.mails to try to bring U2s portion of the event into clearer focus. As ever with these events, simplicity is the best policy, but we do need to make sure it looks good and sounds good.

Had dinner at the Clarence which was very pleasant and managed an earlyish night, cleverly forgetting to watch the U2 documentary on ITV featuring me being interviewed by Cat Deeley. Ah well.
