Two factors steered the course of the days activities; the fabulousness of our hotel and the dismal grey day outside. The entire touring party is sequestered on one floor of the hotel that also has a separate large lounge room. The hotel staff has gone into overdrive with the hospitality, so the lounge appears to be stocked 24 hours a day with food and drink. Theres also wireless broadband and comfy chairs, so the place instantly became the default hangout and workspace for us all, rather resembling a very upscale college common room. Piles of newspapers lay about the place so we could read about ourselves. There were great reviews from last nights show (and rightly so) along with a few other incredibly lame non-stories about U2 related issues. One of these being an in depth examination of why U2 might be staying in this hotel (you have to ask?).
Outside the rain pelted down and as the fog descended visibility was reduced to practically zero, as was the likelihood of any of us actually leaving the building for the rest of the day. Breakfast segued into lunch, then afternoon tea ran on into dinner plans. As the edible goodies continued to be restocked almost hourly we did wonder if tomorrows headlines might read 'Buffet Drama: U2 entourage eat themselves to death amid opulent surroundings'.
I did manage a swim in the hotel pool, as a token gesture towards activity, but that really was about it. A day like this was good for all of us!
