Denver to Seattle

We flew commercial from Denver to Seattle, with a rather rude hoteldeparture time of 8.30am. It wasn't so bad for me, but the lads had done a load-out the night before so were hurting a little, though it should be noted, not complaining. There were 61 of us on a regularflight, so it was a bit of a zoo at check-in. It was a 757 so we pretty much took over the aeroplane. I always wonder what the otherpassengers must make of us; too old to be a school outing, too unrulyto be a business trip, too scary looking to be a religious organization(though, a cult wouldn't be out of the question), united nations ontour.

On arrival, we checked into the Hotel Monaco and I noted that my room overlooks the new library designed by Rem Koolhaas, which is adelightfully whacked looking structure. I also noted that there is a(live) goldfish in my room, which I think is a first in all my years oftouring. Took a bit of a nap, (sleeping with the fishies, ha ha) then dealt with e.mail for an hour before heading down to 'Cutters', anold favourite restaurant on the waterfront. I first went here with 'MrBits', one of my lighting crew during a day trip from Vancouver duringa David Bowie tour back in 1990. The place is still here (as is MrBits) and it has become one of the pins in my world map. Ran into Joe O. & Stuart in there too, so word has clearly spread.Drinks in the bar later. People were tired, but it was nice just tohang out and socialise, knowing that there's a lie-in waiting for ustomorrow morning.

Within the bands entourage (certainly by comparison to the crews clockwork scheduling) travel departure times are often a little loose. This morning was especially so, due to three contradictory memos which had been emailed out last night and this morning.

I was planning on resurrecting the tour diary today, being the day we were scheduled to fly to Auckland for the load-in tomorrow. However, its now old news that the remainder of the tour dates have been postponed, so Im not going anywhere further than the corner cafe. Its been a very weird week indeed - much akin to driving into a wall.
