'Disney Sniffer Dogs'

'Disney Sniffer Dogs'
Monday 21st September 2009. Boston. Show 2.

Today was Snow Patrol's last show with us and we are sad to see them go. Otherwise all progressed in commendably uneventful fashion with a bit of comic relief up on the arrival of what we dubbed the 'Disney Sniffer Dogs'. They were regular police dogs (sniffer brigade) in the hands of a team of Boston's finest, but they were all identical black Labradors and there seemed to be dozens of them, all very playful. I'm not generally a very doggie person but this pack of jet black wagging madness was unbearably cute. The dogs were nice too, ho ho.

Sonically this is a very challenging building, especially way up high, with all the sound bouncing around off the glass boxes, but tonight fared better than last, I think. After the show we did a 'runner' to the plane and headed for New York, where we will base ourselves for the next three weeks (!) . We flew out from Providence, so it was getting late when we got to plane, later when we landed at Newark and by the time we got to the hotel I was more than ready for a nap.

I have a huge admiration for those dogs and their handlers, it's amazing what they can do! I have those same feelings for U2 and all of their crew too! Very cool for Bono to take a picture with them, I love it!

Lab Lovelies
I'm more of a cat person myself, but I've run into a Lab or two and totally get what you're saying, Willie. They are undeniably sweet and the tail-waggingest (?).

wagging madness
I saw some of those beautiful black dogs on my way onto or off of the field ( I honestly don't remember which!) and they really were unbearably cute! I had to stop and say hello to them!

Latest Willie's Diary

21 Nov, 2006
Within the bands entourage (certainly by comparison to the crews clockwork scheduling) travel departure times are often a little loose. This morning was especially so, due to three contradictory memos which had been emailed out last night and this morning.

There was a 6.30pm conference call arranged between Bono (Dublin), The Edge (Los Angeles), Steve Matthews (London) and myself (also London) to blow the cobwebs off our brains and discuss the reincarnation of the Vertigo Tour.

I was planning on resurrecting the tour diary today, being the day we were scheduled to fly to Auckland for the load-in tomorrow. However, its now old news that the remainder of the tour dates have been postponed, so Im not going anywhere further than the corner cafe. Its been a very weird week indeed - much akin to driving into a wall.
