Amsterdam. Show 1.
We did a 'runner-in' to this venue, which always creates a bit of a challenge time-wise, especially if we don't arrive until 5.45pm with scheduled 6pm doors open, and need to squeeze in a sound check. This we did though, at something of a sprint.
This is an unusual venue for the 360 tour in that it has a glass roof. This has its advantages, especially given the fact that it was raining outside, but we did have to jam our stage structure in there, with the top mirrorball sitting just two metres below the roof. The sound of a room like this tends to be quite challenging, sharing the acoustic qualities of both a swimming pool and a giant greenhouse, hence the desire for at least a brief sound check.
Anton Corbijn came to the show, and it's always a pleasure to see him. He seems very well, directing a movie starring George Clooney, which he is clearly excited about. Beer and pizza with the crew afterwards, who were all very happy about not having to load out tonight.
