Then quick as a flash we were gone. It seems extraordinary that we are already six shows in and with this one under our belt we are through L.A. and on our way. Tonight was another solid show despite the rather cool L.A. audience and now the buses have arrived, its really starting to feel like we are on tour.

I'm going to be traveling with the crew for the first half of this leg. There are still a lot of refinements I want to make to the show, videos to tweak, cues to build and so on, which will be easier to do if I spend more time at the venues rather than swanning in with the band at the last minute which has been my usual habit. I'm also looking forward to spending more time with the extraordinary group of people that makes up the U2 touring crew. Some have multiple PhDs, some can barely spell their own name, but each one has a particular area of expertise that makes them indispensable to the touring process. And as a rule they also tend to be highly entertaining.

Within the bands entourage (certainly by comparison to the crews clockwork scheduling) travel departure times are often a little loose. This morning was especially so, due to three contradictory memos which had been emailed out last night and this morning.

There was a 6.30pm conference call arranged between Bono (Dublin), The Edge (Los Angeles), Steve Matthews (London) and myself (also London) to blow the cobwebs off our brains and discuss the reincarnation of the Vertigo Tour.

I was planning on resurrecting the tour diary today, being the day we were scheduled to fly to Auckland for the load-in tomorrow. However, its now old news that the remainder of the tour dates have been postponed, so Im not going anywhere further than the corner cafe. Its been a very weird week indeed - much akin to driving into a wall.
