New York. Day off

Didnt feel great today. It might have been the copious amounts of cheese and Mexican beer we had on the plane coming back from Philadelphia last night, or just the general decay which begins to set in at this end of a tour leg. Consequently I laid low for much of the day, the highlight of which was a stroll down to Bryant Park behind the library. Its such a lovely square, with views of both the Chrysler and Empire State buildings. The City has really taken care of the place, making it a little literary oasis. There are even carts of books and magazines you can borrow whilst youre there ≠ an outdoor reading room ≠ and free wireless internet. All this, plus a large lawn and avenues of plane trees. Its a little piece of heaven when the sun shines.

Drinks later with the editors of Lighting Dimensions and Entertainment Design magazines. Both magazines have already covered the Vertigo show, so this was purely social and very pleasant too, though the fourth Martini might not have been the best idea. As Dorothy Parker put it:

I like to have a MartiniTwo at the very mostAfter three Im under the tableAfter four Im under my host
