Production Load-in.

I've been trying to think of another instance of a production of this scale being moth-balled for seven months then reactivated. Six weeks, maybe, but seven months may well be unprecedented. Given that everyone involved has been off working on other things, its remarkable how quickly it all comes flooding back. When I was talking to the Balarinji people in Sydney, they asked me for some information about the Vertigo screen - pixel size, physical dimensions, etc - and I couldnt remember anything. Not a sausage. The information had completely left my head. I could have told them anything they wanted to know about George Michaels screen, but Vertigo seemed like a distant dream that I once had in a previous life. However, faced with it in the stadium here, it all returned in an instant. 36m x 18m - of course!

The fact that in March the tour stopped dead with no warning meant there was no chance to do the end-of-tour pack up which would normally accompany a show being dismantled for a while. Consequently there have been lots of comedic moment trying to find missing bits of string and vital grommets that have been left in Dublin / Belgium / Oolanbatur. I was most amused to unearth my walkie-talkie, (which I left in my front-of-house workbox) and discover that after sitting there for seven months the battery was still fresh and working.

Again it was a relatively early night as most of the crew started falling into time-lag sleep after dinner, but it was good to see it all again. Coming home, back to school, or something
