Production Rehearsals.
Another day spent in reassembly. Most of the bits of the stage seem to be going back together OK, with a couple of notable exceptions, not least the vital black box which controls all the LED in the stage floor. I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere, in someones laundry bag or down the back of the sofa, praps.

I rolled into the stadium around lunchtime and the band got in some time later. Theyve set up a rehearsal room in one of the stadium function rooms, so that they and the crew can get on with what they need to do without getting in each others way. The musicians seemed to be in good form, despite being zoned out with jet lag. Even Bono, whos usually pretty indestructible when it comes to sleep requirement, was confessing to being all over the place. Theres a plan afoot to rehearse up Walk On and Kite given that neither song has been played on this continent before. Bono was asking me to see if I could dream up some kind of prop or gag which might add something to Kite, talking about a paper bird unfolding above the audience and a few other ideas, so I pondered that for a while.

I got a little programming done in the evening when most people had crumbled under the jet lag. It felt very good to be back at the mix position with my front-of-house team, in the quiet of the night with a few beers, creating huge, beautiful things. Its also a rare privilege to be able to look at everything with new eyes, having not seen it for so long and tweak the parts that were perhaps never quite right. The material for the Aboriginal art piece is due to arrive in the morning, so Im looking forward to that.
