Production Rehearsals.
We got on pretty well last night, the best part being the arrival of the animations from Indigraph, the guys making the Aboriginal artwork. Theres some lovely stuff there, quite unlike anything I've seen before and yet it seems ideally suited to our big screen. The Indigraph guys had animated a whole pile of short loops to be assembled on site and edited together into cohesive form by Damian Hale, an animator I work with regularly who we had brought over from London. The result is really pleasing and suits Walk On perfectly. Im slightly amazed that we managed to pull off something that is so beautiful and utterly authentic in such a short space of time, but where theres a will and a bunch of talented people, theres probably a way.

The band came in later and moved from the rehearsal room to the stage. There are severe sound restrictions here on non-show days, so we only got through half the set, but at least its a start. It sounded good and as jet lag begins to subside, the energy level begins to rise. Bono tried a spot of kite flying and I think its going to work. His confidence is high and it has the potential to be exactly the kind of small moment I think we need. He also suggested adding a didjeridoo sound to Kite, demonstrating how it would work by producing didjeridoo sounds himself, which was not entirely unconvincing. I called Balarinji, the Aboriginal artists, and spoke to Tim Moriarty, 'do you think you could find us a didjeridoo player by noon tomorrow? Oh, and the didjeridoo has to produce a perfect E flat.' Hes getting on a plane first thing in the morning.

Its bonfire night at home, but we had to make do with a late night kebab shop with some guy passed out on one of the tables. Road life.
