Production Rehearsals.
After 30 years in the business, how my life has suddenly come to revolve around kite stores, party goods suppliers and didjeridoo players is something of a mystery, but I have learned to take life as it comes. All of the above seem to be going to plan though, so no complaints. Tim Moriarty arrived so I introduced him to the band. He got out his didjeridoo (so to speak) and sounded it off, producing an extremely impressive noise. Edge played the sequence for Kite which was exactly in tune and the combination sounded tremendous. I think its going to be a thing of beauty.

Tonight was the last opportunity for us all to do a full run through on the stage before opening night, so we made a point of starting early enough to beat the sound curfew. Minutes after U2 took the stage, the heavens opened and down came the rain. It just poured, but bless em, the band played on. In the name of aesthetics, our stage has no roof, so the band members were just standing there in the pissing rain playing a show to an empty stadium; we were impressed, I have to admit. I just hope it stays dry for tomorrow otherwise well be kayaking out the mix position.

Within the bands entourage (certainly by comparison to the crews clockwork scheduling) travel departure times are often a little loose. This morning was especially so, due to three contradictory memos which had been emailed out last night and this morning.

I was planning on resurrecting the tour diary today, being the day we were scheduled to fly to Auckland for the load-in tomorrow. However, its now old news that the remainder of the tour dates have been postponed, so Im not going anywhere further than the corner cafe. Its been a very weird week indeed - much akin to driving into a wall.
