Show Day: Columbus - Nationwide Arena

Show Day: Columbus - Nationwide Arena
We took a day trip from Chicago to Columbus and once again rocked the house. I tried a couple of new things during the show, like changing the video wall move sequence for Mysterious Ways and running an ambient blue video piece during "One" just to give a little more background atmosphere. I liked it and will work on over the next few shows.

Back in Chicago none of us felt like going to bed so we ended up gathering in a corner of the hotel bar. A cocktail waitress came over to serve us and she was just a scream. She was from Chicago, but announced that she had spent time living in Cavan in Ireland, which brought hoots of delight from the Dublin contingent. Someone asked her to bring Margaritas, but she told us straight that she made lousy Margaritas and we should try her Martinis. Who were we to argue? She then brought out a selection of the most bizarre looking drinks imaginable. There was the "Tiffany Martini", so named for being bright opaque turquoise in colour, a green "Melon Martini" presumably named after the arena in Pittsburgh, red ones, yellow ones and even a brown "Chocolate Martini". En masse it looked more like something you might find in a chemistry lab than a bar, but everyone slept pretty soundly after a couple of rounds.

Within the bands entourage (certainly by comparison to the crews clockwork scheduling) travel departure times are often a little loose. This morning was especially so, due to three contradictory memos which had been emailed out last night and this morning.

I was planning on resurrecting the tour diary today, being the day we were scheduled to fly to Auckland for the load-in tomorrow. However, its now old news that the remainder of the tour dates have been postponed, so Im not going anywhere further than the corner cafe. Its been a very weird week indeed - much akin to driving into a wall.
