Show Day: Lexington - Rupp Arena

Show Day: Lexington - Rupp Arena
Sharon saw a horse this afternoon. Sharon is U2's stylist and commented over dinner that on the drive to Rupp arena from Lexington airport, through the most beautiful rural scenery imaginable, she'd seen a horse and realized it was the first one she'd seen in weeks. This gave us all pause to reflect on how long it's been since we saw anything outside of a concrete sports facility, a hotel, a van or an aeroplane. I felt slightly jealous that I hadn't noticed the horse, as I was probably checking my e-mail on my cellphone or something equally pathetic. 'And a rabbit', she added, just to rub it in.

The Edge's guitar tech, Dallas, is from here, so had a weighty guest list and was introduced from the stage, which was sweet. My friends Steve and Debbie Taylor came to the gig with some of the folks from the 'Sixpence None the Richer' orbit, who I've known for a while. Deb arrived with home baked cookies, which brought such a joyous wave of domestic bliss that it made me feel much better about having missed the local wildlife.

We returned to Cleveland after the show and were keeping the hotel bar open when the whole of Bon Jovi arrived. They're playing here tomorrow night and staying in this hotel, so any chance of an early night was promptly ushered out of the window. Apparently there was a certain degree of weakness in the knees of some of the women in our touring party as a result of John Bon Jovi's arrival (though I suspect this was somewhat tempered by his later reference to them as 'Bono's chicks')

Within the bands entourage (certainly by comparison to the crews clockwork scheduling) travel departure times are often a little loose. This morning was especially so, due to three contradictory memos which had been emailed out last night and this morning.

I was planning on resurrecting the tour diary today, being the day we were scheduled to fly to Auckland for the load-in tomorrow. However, its now old news that the remainder of the tour dates have been postponed, so Im not going anywhere further than the corner cafe. Its been a very weird week indeed - much akin to driving into a wall.
