Show Day: Montreal - Molson Centre, 2nd night
Took the opportunity to work on the show this afternoon. Second show days tend to be easy with nobody much about at the gig in the early afternoon. I had a lot of tidying up to do, programming wise. A great deal has been changed, modified or added since the beginning of the tour and I never got round to spending a bit of time reprogramming the lighting and video consoles to get everything back into logical order. The biggest recent change was the arrival of the new lighting fixtures which I had built to replace the movie lights around the back of the stage. I liked the way the movie lights looked, but ultimately this is the wrong show for them. The replacements are these rather odd looking Darth Vader objects on poles - all painted black and grimacing bright light out of the front slot. Much more appropriate.

The good citizens of Quebec spent the evening rupturing our eardrums again so a good night was had by all. We're not leaving Montreal till Wednesday, so tonight seemed ripe for a spot of partying. The company who built all the electronics for the PopMart video screen is based here, headed up by the wildly generous human event horizon, Fred Jalbou. Once he arrived, there was no debate - we were going out with Fred, and that was that. Caught up in the wake of this act of hospitality terrorism were Paul McGuinness & Larry plus the Hollywood boys who were still around - Stephen Dorf, Lukas Haas et al and a host of beautiful people from Montreal and beyond. The venue was 'Buona Notte' up on St.Laurent, a street home to many hip hangouts which never close. I seem to remember being force fed shots of alcoholic pink nail polish and certainly there was an amount of dancing on tables but the rest has already slipped into inaccessible recesses of grey matter, which, under the circumstances, is probably no bad thing.
