Show Day: Munich - Olympiahalle
After the excesses of last night, this morning was uphill work. Mercifully it appears I must have packed my bag last night, though I don't have any recollection of doing so. I also must have looked at the wrong memo because I thought our lobby call was an hour later than it actually was. Having staggered up out of bed at about noon I looked out of the window and saw other members of our touring party getting into vans clearly ready to depart. Oops. I made it, but don't ask me how I was feeling.
Flight to Munich and a show at the arena which is part of the complex built for the Olympics. The whole complex is this huge, mad, undulating glass tent which snakes about all over the place. Must have all seemed deeply groovy in 1972 or whenever it was.
The Eagles are in this venue tomorrow night and their crew are already in town so a whole load of them came down to our show, including many veterans of previous U2 tours. (I think about 60% of available road crew in the world must have worked on some part of either PopMart or Zoo TV). That's one of the fun side effects of this life - tours pass each other like pirate ships zig-zagging around the globe, so you do get to catch up with your mates unexpectedly from time to time.
Late night flight to Paris straight after the show and I wasn't awake for a single moment of it.
