Show Day: New York - Madison Square Garden, Show 2
I had all these noble intentions of getting out and about this morning, making the most of such a glorious day, etc., but in the end it was all I could do to make it down to the crew hotel for 1pm to have breakfast with Bruce. Touring's like that. Try as you might, some days you just feel like your plug's been pulled. Fortunately very little was demanded of me before going into the gig, so I was able to make a slow re-entry.

By show time we were firing on all four and had a glorious time. It was such a good gig with a super loud audience - I'd certainly put tonight in the top five shows of the tour so far, top three even. It was a real celebration which the band were clearly loving, throwing in both Out of Control and 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, just because they could. I felt very happy for them, doing it, living large in New York City.

Afterwards I found my way to the band's (enormous) hospitality area and joined the party. Catherine Owens was here again tonight with the other half of the New York art world, amongst lots of other familiar faces, Moby, Courtney Love, Tiger Woods, Brian Kennedy, Christy Turlington - it all starts to become gloriously surreal for me at times like this.

Somehow it got to be 4am and we ended up in a diner on 7th Avenue. It was right at that watershed period where the group isn't sure whether its still party time or if its time for breakfast. Our friend Angela bridged the gap neatly by ordering the "Lumberjack French Toast Bacon & Egg Special∑∑ and a bottle of Pinot Grigio". It made sense at the time, I promise you.
