Sore heads and 'wine flu'
Dublin. Show 2.
There were a few sore heads in the touring party this morning (or rather this afternoon) when we regrouped at the stadium. Dublin is such a hospitable city and there was more than a touch of 'wine flu' going round. However, this didn't slow us down and buoyed by absolutely stellar reviews in the papers (and the promise of a day off tomorrow) the place had a real party atmosphere. Even the continuing Not Darkness didn't bother me too greatly.
I walked back to the hotel after the show as the traffic (human and motor) was insane. The whole of Dublin appears to be one gigantic street party this evening. The U2 covers bands of Temple Bar are going at it full throttle and clearly there isn't a hope in hell of me getting to sleep for a while, so I'm going to head out there and get some on me. Day off tomorrow and all...
Sunday 26th July 2009. Dublin. Day off.
This is the first complete day off that the U2 360 crew has enjoyed since loading in to Barcelona at the beginning of June. It's remarkable that morale on the tour is so high given the work-load but there is a sense that if you're going to be on the road this year, then this is the only place you'd want to be. Plus the tour catering is really good.
I ran away for the day and headed south to see some friends and play with their new puppies. It's slightly disorientating but a real treat to spend some time in an actual residence where people live full time. Even the luxury of the Hotel Fabulous doesn't quite compensate for its anonymity.
