U2360° TOUR Leg 3: 2011

Travel Day-2

After a commendably dull flight I got into Toronto around 10pm. Upon arrival at the hotel, the first person I saw was Bono sitting in the lobby with Larry and three or four other tour personnel. He was in great form, with pictures of the new baby in hand. It was quite a triumph of personal scheduling that Ali managed to produce their baby on demand to coincide with the allocated week off. The new arrival looked very sweet in the photographs, despite Bono insisting that he resembled a bank robber. We all went for dinner to an Italian place across the street and exchanged tales of our week off. Some folks had stayed in Chicago, others came to Toronto early and some went home or bailed for other places entirely, so it was quite the little reunion. Bono had had the most extraordinary time of all, of course, and told us tales of the birth and the following celebrations, including drinks at the Clarence Hotel with Bill Clinton, which all sounded highly implausible even though we knew it to be true.

It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time - we're one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding.
