Vancouver - London.

Leaving the West Coast. It feels like an eternity since we arrived in Vancouver to construct the Vertigo show, but now I can't help feeling a little sad to leave. There's a week's break before the next show so a lot of people are taking the opportunity to skip home for a few days. Those who currently don't have homes will be hanging in Chicago, or slipping off to undisclosed destinations. I get to go to Belgium and Birmingham to sort out the European stadium production, but will hopefully manage a day or two at home.

Most people left early, but Smasher and I were on an 8.30pm flight to London so had the best part of the day in Vancouver. Slept late, leisurely brunch, it even felt like Saturday for a little while. Being the sad, loser Mac geeks that we are, the highlight of the day was picking up a copy of 'Tiger', the new Mac operating system. Do we know how to live, or what? For an encore we rounded out the Vancouver experience at ëChambar', a Belgian bar which has been something of a social centre for a lot of the crew. Particularly the Belgians. I hadn't been before, but when the entire staff came out to bid us adieu and the owner/chef wouldn't let us pay for anything, I began to realise the extent of the Belgian investment in the place.

The rest of the day ran to comfortably predictable plan. Housekeeping banging on the door, being turfed out of the hotel room, cab, airport, check in, long flight, crap movies so watched 'Sideways' for the fifth time.

Within the bands entourage (certainly by comparison to the crews clockwork scheduling) travel departure times are often a little loose. This morning was especially so, due to three contradictory memos which had been emailed out last night and this morning.

I was planning on resurrecting the tour diary today, being the day we were scheduled to fly to Auckland for the load-in tomorrow. However, its now old news that the remainder of the tour dates have been postponed, so Im not going anywhere further than the corner cafe. Its been a very weird week indeed - much akin to driving into a wall.
