Which Way is Up ?
Monday 26th October 2009. Los Angeles - Vancouver.

The alarm went off at 9am, I got up feeling absolutely dreadful, packed, left my bag at the door and went back to bed til 2pm. I'm really not a happy camper. I don't have much recollection of the journey to Vancouver, but clearly it happened as I'm here now. The crew end-of-tour party is tonight, but they'll have to struggle on without me. I hate to miss it, but I barely know which way is up just now.

Doc
You are probably all better now. At least you were in Vancouver - where healthcare has a public option!!! We were in Vancouver - I am a doc and helped out before the show at the stage when a 16 year old fan passed out...woulda helped you out too if I had known! Hope all is good now. A little R&R is better than quite a few meds! See you in Seattle.

Best job in the world?
Somehow, I got sucked into a quiz on facebook and selected my ideal job as a "Roadie for U2"... and the irony of it all. Reading your entries for some time now, I can only think that perhaps YOU have the best job - though I could not nor would not want to be away from my children for that long.... God Bless ya for doin' it so I can enjoy it live in concert. Thanks for all you do - entertaining me on show nights and when this entry gets published. Ta.

Within the bands entourage (certainly by comparison to the crews clockwork scheduling) travel departure times are often a little loose. This morning was especially so, due to three contradictory memos which had been emailed out last night and this morning.

There was a 6.30pm conference call arranged between Bono (Dublin), The Edge (Los Angeles), Steve Matthews (London) and myself (also London) to blow the cobwebs off our brains and discuss the reincarnation of the Vertigo Tour.

I was planning on resurrecting the tour diary today, being the day we were scheduled to fly to Auckland for the load-in tomorrow. However, its now old news that the remainder of the tour dates have been postponed, so Im not going anywhere further than the corner cafe. Its been a very weird week indeed - much akin to driving into a wall.
