Less than 2 miles away
the closest U2 will ever be to house (stones were 3 blocks away a few years back). If I didn't just get a kick ass HDTV I would have gotten in somehow...even though I'm way to old to pass for a FU student

GMA is lame
Just goes to show how formulaic those morning shows are--"we can't NOT do the cooking segment! God forbid!" He should have cooked some breakfast for the band! Then when the band was being interviewed on stage, they didn't have the sound so the audience could hear WTF was going on, so of course they were cheering and shouting. Poor planning. They should have let the audience hear the interview. They had to cut to advertising because, well, there were tons more viewers and ratings were high. Ads pay for the show. For as big of a TV event that it was, GMA could have done a lot better.

Just like fine wine U2 get better with age,im a fan from UF era and how they transfer studio songs to live is amazing, bands come close but they only manage 1or2 albums,Every U2 album is just pure imagination and every live show does put electricity through your veins,U2 they are my drug!!

american tv
yeah, there is NOTHING normal about shows like GMA. i'm not sure who even watches that when U2 isn't on. thanks for these behind the scenes glimpses. the week of letterman was a lot of fun, and it is cool to see how it looked from your side.

Thanks Willie and U2
It was killing me that I couldn't make into Manhattan or Fordham U last week. I'm 1 hour by train, but my boss is not a U2 diehard like myself. These diaries are great. I've followed the past two tours through the eyes of Willie, and I even stood next to him in the heart at MSG for PJ Harvey. Great job, and I'm looking forward to a great 2009 with U2 back in the game.

WHAT THE...?
I love great food & Mario Batali is a great chef (on the Food Network), but who in their right mind would cut away from a kick ass U2 show for ANY reason at all, especially for commercials and a bowl of fancy pasta. Insanity! I was floored.

GMA is GMA no matter who is on
As a regular GMA watcher, I had hoped to God they would just let U2 play their hearts out and avoid the usual cooking segment all together. But to no avail, Mario showed up anyway...maybe he's a big fan. Let's thank God that they didn't feature the boys having a Spaghetti Carbonara tasting party.....that would've been mortifying!!!! Willi...great job, once again, I look forward to reading your reports ...and to U2, thanks so much for all the inspiration and respecting your fans....MAGNIFICENT

Your right his ain't normal
What kind of madness was that? I was expecting them to cut the U2 show for commercials but to my amazment they had a cooking show with some chef in between aswell leaving all the fans who i'm sure didn't stay up all night for that waiting for more U2..Great performance by U2 though can't wait to see them live soon
