U2, Elevation 2001,   Dallas, November 25 by Allisa Green

This was my fifth U2 concert in 14 or 15 years.  Each time I had mediocre seats in the upper levels of the venues.  Also each time, I had some of the most intimate concert experiences of my life.  This performance was no exception.  It took on a more spiritual and sentimental tone than the April show here in Dallas.  No more plucking a blonde in a cowboy hat from the audience for a slow, sexy dance.  Although that was fun then, this show felt more like a family reunion.  U2 embraced their fans with an acoustic performance of "In God's Country."  It was more special when Bono reflected that it was the second time they had performed that song in 15 years.  Bono identified with the audience by extending his hopes for peace here and in Ireland, and by voicing his distaste for religious fanatics who "bring God down to their size," a sentiment cheered by the audience of Biblebelt residents.  The show reached a spiritual pinnacle when U2 gave the most beautiful tribute to September 11.  Names of the dead scrolled on a screen behind the band, then reflected and lifted into the audience until they disappeared.  That is when I knew U2 had turned Reunion Arena into Reunion Church.  It was the best concert since I first saw them in Las Cruces, New Mexico 14 or 15 years ago.  I can hardly wait for the next reunion.

You won't believe what happened to me. ME! out of 18,000 was centerstage with one short older woman in front of me. I touched Bono's hand during "Beautiful Day" during the line of the song "Someone you can lend a hand, in return for Grace" Cool huh? It gets way better.. A few songs later, during "Stuck in a Moment (you can't get out of)" I'm reaching out and with his shades off by now. Bono is looking right at me. And later my friend said he was looking straight at me too. He comes towards me. I have my left hand out palm facing up. He puts his left foot on the  railing, puts his right hand on my left hand and has a security gaurd holding him from behind while he has the microphone in his left hand. while other around me are touching and pulling at him I'm trying to push or  brace him up as Bono is hubbering right above me for about 30 seconds towards the end of the song. I'll never forget it. He looks right down at me as he sings "look at you now, you got yourself stuck in a moment, and you can't get out of it" I'm starting to tear up, from the emotion and from the pain in my in pinkie and ring finger  being pushed outward.(not that i'm complaining) That was without one of the most amazing moments in my life. After that everyone around me was high-fiving me saying how awesome that was and how lucky I am.
They are right. It was really unique how they played "In Gods Country" and when Qwen joined the band to sing "Whats Going On", something different from the previous Dallas show and earlier in the month in Austin.  Thanks.
