U2360° TOUR

Oct 18 2009
Norman, OK, US / Oklahoma Memorial Stadium
with Black Eyed Peas
101
Very different vibe here in Norman, with a smaller stadium floor enhancing the 360 vibe. The Black Eyed Peas on their first date with us got things off to a great start for 60,000 Oklahomans and things just got better.

Highlights might have been: 'Crazy' - never fails to surprise people who haven't heard the live version ; the little boy in green stripes who got up on stage for his moment in the spotlight during Unforgettable Fire; MLK ('A message of love from Oklahoma') and a very special introduction to Moment of Surrender.

'For the past few days, all over the world, people have been standing up against extreme poverty,' explained Bono. 'Last year 1.6m people stood up, there's about 60,000 of you here tonight so let's see if we can break a record..'

Strangely for the climactic moments of a U2 show, he then invited everyone to sit down and, on the count of three, to stand up. And they did - the audience unanimous in bellowing 'Stand Up' on cue.

'This is happening in Africa and India, and now Oklahoma yes... from all of us, thank you so much.'

How was it for you in Norman tonight? Tell us what it was like and post your photos below. Here's what they played, more coming up.

POP songs
There are no plans for playing none of the POP album songs? No "please", no "discotheque", no "gone", no "velvet dress"...??? I hope next year back in europe we can hear some of these amazing songs: "please, please, get up on your knees..."

Trifecta!
First NJ Meadowlands, then Arlington, TX, now Norman, OK! This was such a great show! As the band says, the closer proximity of the 360 stage being in the middle of the field was awesome and the crowd participation was like it was at Giants stadium with the record crowd up there of over 84,000+! "Crazy" remix was super-fun this time! I was very surprised and ecstatic to hear "In a little while" I thought the band was full of energy and the Black Eyed Peas did a fantastic job of pumping up the crowd. I'm sad I won't be seeing any more of the US tour but I already have my tickets for Stade de France in Paris, FR next year!! Thank you Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry for a great month!

Going to leave a mark,
Great show. Great energy. Wild dancing in the RED zone. Something about a U2 show compared to other concerts. Most bands play music. U2 takes us to church; a dancing, rocking, thumping gospel of a church--one that I wish I could go to every Sunday. Thanks guys for leaving a mark on Norman. We hope it's not another 26 years before you come back.

Amazing!
The show was wonderful--the guys really know how to get the crowd involved! Still reeling from the fact that one of the greatest bands on the planet just played at my school =D

AWESOME!!
Great show in Norman tonight! Took the whole family and everyone had a great time - the Black Eyed Peas were a great opening act and enjoyed them more than I expected to - The stage set up is great and all of the songs were awesome!!
not sure.....
the last time i saw U2 was during their Auchtung Baby tour back in 1991. I remember being moved and brought into the music and feeling it. tonight i left a bit empty. the energy wasn't there. i don't know if it was the opening song.... which i love... i dunno. i did have a great time. i wasn't even that cold. but i just didn't FEEL the songs. U2 is my all time favorite band and i was so pumped to see them again after 18 years. Still love them. always will. they have songs that mean so much to me.

Great Job Oklahoma
Today was an amazing day. From 7:50am in the morning until 11:30pm, I met U2 staff, local security, and volunteers all of them were incredible people. But there are two things about a U2 concert that you can't beat; U2 and their fans. What an incredible trip group of people followed by another incredible group of people. Thanks a bunch.

Great concert, awsome night. Black Eyed Peas were better than I expected. This was my first U2 concert and it was incredible. I can't get over it!!!! The technology was the bomb and the music was first rate, Bono's voice is as strong as ever!!! Sound was perfect in an open air venue!!!
