Show Report
'Trem das Onze', a samba composition by Adoniran Barbosa, was playing ahead of the band's arrival on stage tonight. It's one of the most famous of all Brazilian songs but when it gave way to 'Space Oddity' finally Brazil knew that U2 were heading to the stage and before we knew it we were all caught up in 'Even Better Than The Real Thing'.

'Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo...' Bono sang, the whole stadium grateful that there was no rain coming down as the first of three shows here got underway.'Even Better', already in contention for the best opening track of the tour to date, led into I Will Follow and then 'Boots, two tracks written thirty years apart but you'd never know it from the reaction of this super-passionate audience. Phenomenal sound from all around.

We've had some mixed weather in Sao Paulo today but it was dry as the first of three shows in this city got underway, with spectacular shards of lightning in the sky illuminating a helicopter buzzing over the stadium.

'Wow! Thank you. Obrigado.' said Bono. 'Tonight is Saturday in Sao Paulo...'

Introductions to the band took a pizza twist with Bono describing himself as the pepperoni pizza, Adam as the banana pizza and Larry... 'No cheese, no tomato, no pastry, no pizza - we call him the good looking pizza. Larry Mullen on drums.'

An acoustic version of Stuck In A Moment made its way back into the set tonight, dedicated to Julian Lennon to whom the band led a rendition of Happy Birthday.

'We'd like to sing this song for a friend of ours, Julian Lennon...here's a song about friendship.'

With a stadium of Brazilians singing along word for word, it was a little bit spine-tingling, as was the poetry read by a young woman who made her way into the spotlight before Beautiful Day.

'We're so proud to be friends of Brazil,' said Bono, as, a beautiful night coming to a close, he paused to pay tribute to the people of this country and to President Dilma Rousseff. 'We salute you, we salute her.'

And then an incredibly touching moment with Moment of Surrender going out to those who lost their lives in the shooting at Tasso da Silveira school in Rio di Janeiro on Thursday.
' This has been a difficult time for Brazil... and what happened in Tasso da Silveira.
'We'd like to dedicate this to the children and the mothers and their families and the teachers and the people of Brazil.'

And as Moment of Surrender offered its beautiful benediction, the names of the children who lost their lives illuminated the giant screens around the stage. Unforgettable.

Were you at the opening show in Sao Paulo tonight? What was the moment you got stuck in, the moment you'll never surrender? Add your own reviews and upload your photos below.

WAS AMAZING!
Hi, Bono, The Edge! Adam, Larry! Hey guys, my name is Alex Diegas, I'm 29 years old, I'm a brazilian artist and since 1998 I'm a U2 fan! I did not watch your shows in 1998 and 2006, but now, during 360 tour, I got! Was amazing! I screamed a lot, jumped, all at same time! I and my girlfriend loved the U2 performance specially during the musics City Of Blinding Lights, Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me and Until The End Of the World and others! April 9 will be unforgettable, forever! Thanks for all, guys, you are the best! I will send some links with photos of this special day: Ticket on the stadium: http://www.flickr.com/photos/alex_diegas/5620873633/in/photostream I and her waiting for U2: http://www.flickr.com/photos/alex_diegas/5620873639/in/photostream The planes reach the show: http://www.flickr.com/photos/alex_diegas/5620873637/in/photostream

AMAZING!
It's hard to put in words what a U2 concert is. I watched the Vertigo tour back in 06,and that was my all-time favourite concert. It was so beautiful, like a concert should be. Then, the 360 tour came down to Brazil....I knew It was going to be something huge, but I only realized how huge it really was when I got to the stadium and saw the struture, the thousands of fans and I felt the unique energy that only a U2 concert brings. Then, the experience began! EVERYTHING was absolutely perfect, and I can't honestly choose one favourite moment....Everything was magical and special...City of blinding lights, where the streets have no name, walk on,help...just to name a couple! Perhaps, the moment I will always remember was during "with or without you" - the all-time love song - which I watched with the love of my life!!!!! I truly felt like Bono and the band were playing it only for us! Thanks again for the amazing night, for bringing so many special moments into people's lives and to make a positive difference in the world.

A fantastic concert
I went to Pop Mart concert in 1998 in São Paulo, it was amazing. But I have to consider that the 360º concert was the best musical experience I have passed by, no words to comment. The most fantastic moment in my opinion was when Bono sang "Help" and then "Where the streets have no name". All the audience took a ballon and set it free, Jesus!!! unbelievable!!! The atmosphere was incredible, it seemed that angels were in te stadium honoring the best rock band ever. Thank you, God, for that moment; thank you, U2, for existing im my life, thank you, my great friend and brother, Pedro Henrique, for exchanging those moments with me. Here we are in a picture of us, I'm on the left. Amandio Junior

Where the streets have no name and the b
Both shows were breathtaking. It's hard to finger the best momment, I really missed a mention of the ballons in the site review, though. The fans brought, blew and throw into the air and it was awesome. That was the momment he thanked us and said "obrigado". I'm sure they liked the idea the fan club had. We wanted to color the stadium with our flag colors. Unfortunately I've got no photos of this momment, but I'm sure there are some somewhere on the Net. I'll try to post one later. Claudia (from Rio)

Unforgetable!
It was my first time watching the show live. I cant describe how amazing it was. It's completely different from watching in a DVD, nothing compares to see the show in your city. Pure energy! Thanks for every minute. Adriano Santos

Incredibly Amazing...
I've no words to discribe the thrill caused by the first impact of that huge stage in the stadium... even less words to discribe the performance... and no words at all to express the emotion after all those songs hit my memories and brought back the presence of friends, places, relatives and emotions that cannot be touched anymore... Only love can heal those scars... Only U2. Bless You all!!! definetly a Moment of Surrender...

The best show ever...
I am a huge fan of U2 for almost 20 years, I grew listening to you guys and being able to get a ticket for 360º Tour (believe me it wans´t easy) was like a dream come true. I was there on the Vertigo tour, but to see live what you guys have created for this tour was overwelming in a great way. I was stunned by the stage, the lights, the effects but all of this was just details when compared to the songs, those ones we love and always will. It´s hard to pick one highlight, for me the songs "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Where The Streets Have No Name" are really really special and I felt blessed to be able to listen to them live again. But seeing Bono reading parts of the beautiful song "Carinhoso" was trully priceless. Bono, Adam, Edge, Larry, please come back soon, we love you guys!
