U2360° TOUR

Apr 10 2011
Sao Paulo, BR / Estadio Morumbi
with Muse

The heavens opened and drenched everyone ahead of the band taking the stage for the second night in Sao Paulo but this turned out to be a memorable night for all kinds of other reasons.

'Real Thing' opened the show and then, 'for special reasons, this is our first single' announced Bono as the band broke into a surprise that sounded as fresh and fierce as the day of its release in 1979.
'I had the feeling it was out of control
I was of the opinion it was out of control...'

Rain, what rain? 'Boots', Magnificent, Mysterious Ways, Elevation, the joint was jumping at Estadio Morumbi, it was well out of control.

'Mucho obrigado, Thank you to Muse,' said Bono. 'Extraordinarily talented musicians.'
'Nos amamos o Brazil... We love you... but you know that don't you?'

Still, everybody needs reassurance, so it was a good moment to make sure, he explained.
'Edge is a very insecure guy and asked me to check that you don't love other bands the way that you love us...'

The general ovation that followed suggested there wasn't too much to be concerned about, but still, as Bono continued,'You've had other lovers passing through - Oasis, Coldplay, now Muse - so Edge needs to know how much you love him.'

Brazil confirmed its undying love in the loudest possible terms. Tonight, in case of any doubt, Bono also confirmed it was Larry Mullen on drums and Adam Clayton on bass guitar.
'And if I wasn't insecure I wouldn't have become a singer - my name is Bono.
We try to serve you. We salute you...'

Special thanks went out to Governor Alckmin for the loan of Sao Paulo. 'No work tomorrow, is that right? U2 day. Its official! Alright new song, this is North Star.'

Beautiful Day segued into an stadium-wide sing-a-long of Singing in the Rain before Vertigo turned the stadium into clubland again. And then, out of nowhere, after Miss Sarajevo, a total surprise, the return of Zooropa, which hasn't been played live since the year it was released way back in another century.
'Zooropa... a bluer kind of white
Zooropa... it could be yours tonight.'

You know a track is making a little bit of musical history when it starts trending on Twitter which Zooropa did tonight - amazing moment for Brazilian U2 fans.

'Don't know what to say to you,' exlaimed Bono after 'Streets. 'What an unforgettable night. We will never forget this night. Good looking people!'

And with another special dedication of 'Moment of Surrender' to those in sorrow, 'mothers and fathers without children', after Thursday's events in Rio (see our clip from last night above), the second show in Sao Paulo came to a close.

Were you at Estadio Morumbi tonight? What was it like when Zooropa was played? What was your highlight ? Drop us a review and post a photo below.

Unforgettable
The best ever. I was expecting a lot, but it surprised me. As Bono said, this is not a cliché: "I love U2" The moment of With Or Without You was perfect... everybody singing it together... Please don't take too long to come to Brazil again.

Moment of surrender
Great choice. My wife was crying because it is her adolescent dream. My son did insist in being there. I did jump, sing and smile all the time of the concert. This stage is amazing. Come back to Brasil ever, here is your home. Thank you very much U2 !

Out of Control
Out of Control - The best track ever!!!! I and my husband, Cicero, worked as a ONE volunteer and he wrote something that describe this wonderful day: "Guys, yesterday was a beutiful day! I almost got out of control when I saw so many magnificent people moving in mysterious ways... But all was even better than the real thing, as our pride was in elevation and with us until the end of the world! I know that I still haven't found what I'm looking for, but with or wthout you, working for ONE was an amazing grace. Not even the ultraviolet rays from the burning sun or the scars on my feet (my wife told me, Cicero "get on your boots") that made that a Sunday, bloody Sunday, were enough to make me wish for a moment of surrender. And by following the north star, I know that I'll go crazy if I don't go crazy tonight in the city of bliding lights. Not Miss Sarajevo, nor Scarlet will be able to free me from this vertigo feeling, so it is better to walk on in a place called Zooropa, where the streets have no name... Oh, by the way... Does anyone remember the set list of yesterday?"

Second Night - São Paulo
... Thank you for tonight ... the impact will last long in my life ...

april 10th !!
I´ve been to the 1998 and 2006 U2 shows here in Sao Paulo and now to 2nd 2011 night. I´m a huge Bruce Springsteen fan (18 shows between Europe, USA and Brasil)and Bruce should use the 360 stage, but without the technology. Amazing show !! On heavier songs Bono´s voice was a little lower, but still , what a great band live. U2 should(as bruce should)put more LIVE official CDS out !!! Oh, and vary the setlist a little more ,like Bruce does, if so I may have been to another night ...And try using the Lottery for the Inner Circle and Red Zone areas (make Bono ask Bruce how it works). You get a number on your hand and by 5 pm there´s a lottery and line forms - you don´t need to camp and it´s democracy (like Bono likes) !! Thanks U2, come back next tour !!! Blanco

Hands down the best live music concert E
I love live concerts and had the opportunity to see the likes of Stones, Clapton, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Mr Paul MacCartney among others back in the day. I saw U2 play for the fist time in São Paulo back in 1998 at the Pop Mart tour and again in 2001 and 2005 in London at Elevation and Vertigo tour respectively. I also saw them at Live 8 performing live with Paul MacCartney on stage and that was amazing. But in the evening of April 9th, 2011U2 left me mesmerized and awestruck with their 360 tour. I had already watched their DVD Live at the Rose Bowl and knew it would be a great gig but nothing prepared me for what would become the best live concert of my entire life. I was already a huge fan of these four men but the weekend in São Paulo touched my existance forever and for that I am truly and utterly thankful.

Magnificent! Fantastic
Wow! I am spechless, no words to describe. Best show ever!! Bono was amazing, The Edge nailed on the guitar, and the other guys too. The claw was another great part of the show, you felt like you are in the stage with them. Thank you so much, we will never forget. Best track? Hard to pick one, I would say Elevation and One, cause the audience sing all along with Bono.

Magnificent Sunday
April 10th, I arrived Morumbi at 6:30 am. The line was quite long already. Long day of expectation. But also, a very interesting one. I met a guy whose son is called Adam Clayton. He came all the way from Recife for the concert. There were three sisters and their father. I saw them during the show, hugging and jumping together – a real sweet family moment. I heard a husband and wife conversation. The wife asks: “Husband, what if Bono kisses me? Bono is not cheating. It’s Bono!” There was a man selling chocolate. He said it was Bono’s favourite. If you and he eat it at the same time, magic happens. And there were the volunteers of Amnesty International, One and Greenpeace, what brought so many thinking and discussion. It’s an U2 show! Well, I finally got into de inner circle. Hours later, U2 entered the stage. I couldn’t believe I was that close. The sensation was strange. I watched Popmart and Vertigo, but I was distant from the stage. It was like the virtual being materialized. And there they were – Edge very concentrated and genial; Larry always royal and handsome; Adam so full of light, kindness and sympathy with his white clothes and calm smile; and Bono … spreading beauty, enchantment, energy and divinity. Listen to the band I love playing all those songs of my heart was something very special. Bono’s voice was especially great and beautiful. Out of Control in the 360° tour. Beautiful Day joined with Blackbird. The beauty of North Star. Morumbi turned into the Milky Way during Moment of surrender. Zooropa on while the screen was breaking apart. Scarlet. One that used to be a song and became a concept. Walk on and its profound lyrics. The contagious energy of City of blinding lights. The dear Ultraviolet. The ones we’ve never get tired to listen to – With or without you, Where the streets have no name, I still haven’t found what I’m looking for. And some many others. U2 says goodbye. The stadium lights turn on. The dream is over. What can I say? I stood for an instant. I wondered how U2 tours are much more than music. It’s a rock concert, an audiovisual experience, an acting performance, dancing, poetry. Who told that art and technology are opposites? U2 mentioned many times how media manipulates people and how entertainment industry drugs us. And it’s interesting how the tools of media and entertainment are used by the band to do the contrary, to wake us up, to make us think about some many things. We are put in contact with the world’s wounds and ours. The question about if we’ve got a minute to think is like a needle in the heart. Surely, there are others moments, the moments of joy, fun, tenderness, love, enchantment, satisfaction, a sensation of communion with the universe. I know the text is very confused, full of disconnected ideas and grammar errors, and quite naïve. But, it expresses the millions of feelings and thoughts that are inside me. Take it like a pub conversation. After the show I was tired, happy and a bit melancholic. Above all I was extremely grateful for the moment I had had. I love you, guys. We all love you. There’s no reason to be insecure. True love lasts forever. You’ve got heart and soul. Big hugs and a noisy kiss on the cheek. See you on Wednesday.

Out of this world.
I didn't think it was possible to cry the tears of joy I just did when I saw Zooropa played live! I can't believe they haven't played it like this before! They nailed it!!!! Bravo!

Where the streets...
My highlight is alway for Where the Streets Have No Name...the energy of this song can move and touch all the audience of Morumbi sunday night, after the rain. I was there with my wife and son. They were proud of being in front of the best musicians of the world, and their engagement with Human Rights. Come to Brazil ever !

Unforgetable sunday night in Sao Paulo.
The show was amazing!! Even the rain stopped to the opening and for the whole show. The most memorable moment for me was when Bono was singing Sunday Bloody Sunday just in front of the place where I was. Thank you Bono!!!
