U2 at the Anaheim Pond
Wow!! Seeing U2 at another arena show after the Elevation tour was such a treat! This was their third show into the tour, so we didn't expect greatness. The "Kings of Leon" opened and who knew how big they were going to be by 2010. This was the concert where U2 decided to mix up their setlist. Bono on the drum during "Love and Peace" was a surprise! I remember after the first five songs or so, I was already wiped out, they played so well!! Edge went back to the keyboards for "Running To Stand Still" which sounded superb!! "Sometimes You Can't Make It..." was very touching and Bono belted it out. They took a break and left the stage during the middle of the concert (not towards the end). My sis and I sat next to the stage on the right side and we could see that at times they were discussing things. We suspected they were deciding on the setlist as they went. Unfortunately, this was the only concert on the tour where they didn't play from their first two albums. But the show was great! They made it work. It was also great to see Edge and Adam switch guitars at the end for "40". Interestingly, after they left the stage, the house lights stayed off for quite a while, leaving the crowd to believe they were coming back with all of us chanting "How long to sing this song". When they didn't return, lots of boos echoed the arena which was surprising since they did play a great show. I, for one, did not boo U2. It was not deserved.
