A dance track sampling U2's New Year's Day, emerged as one of the leading tunes from last week's Miami Winter Music Conference.

And Serious Records act Musique, who produced the track, New Year's Dub, have now received permission from U2 for an official release later this summer.

'New Year's Dub' attracted massive interest at the recent Miami Conference, coincidentally held over the same weekend as U2 were opening their Elevation 2001 tour in the city.

A spokeswoman for U2 told Music Week: "The band thought it was a great song which is why permission to use the sample was given."

Serious Records Managing Director Simon Belofsky said, 'Bono has given us permission to release the record in the gap between the third and fourth singles from their current album. It will be one of the big records of the year.'

Music Week reports that the mixes showcased in Miami were by Steve Lawler and Hybrid, with harder mixes from Mauro Picotto and DJ Elite scheduled for UK and Ibiza audiences.

Already placed at No 2 in Music Week's 'Top Ten in Miami' chart, New Year's Dub is described thus: 'Hypnotic house featuring the unmistakeable guitar riff from New Year's Day.'
