Original art work miniatures by Bono, Gavin Friday and others will beauctioned for charity in Dublin next Wednesday.

The art works were created for for Art:Pack, a set of playing cards designedto raise funds for the Irish Hospice Foundation.

Now Christies are to auction the original art works in Dublin at The RoyalHibernian Academy.

Viewing will be all day next Tuesday (April 9th) and Wednesday (April 10th),until 4pm, with a reception on the Wednesday at 6.00pm, followed by theauction at 7.30pm.

All proceeds go the Irish Hospice Foundation.

Bono and Gavin Friday, who produced the Jokers in the pack, are among anarray of Irish artists who contributed works - other artists include RobertBallagh, Matthew Barney, Basil Blackshaw, Felim Egan, Guggi, Anne Madden,Patrick Scott and Sean Scully.

Each artist was given the card size and a number - Ace of Clubs, Queen ofHearts and so on - and asked to design a card. The result is 54 pieces ofvisual artwork of startling originality and quality.

All the artists contributed their work in aid of the Irish HospiceFoundation, which supports hospice care in Ireland. Hospice care is lifeenhancing whether it involves residential or home care. It recognises thephysical and psychological pain of both the patient and the family. That'swhy it's called Living to the End.
