When & Where
Tuesday November 6th 2018, second night of four at the 3Arena, Dublin.

Set List
'Innocent boys…'
… and more tales of experience on the second night of four home town shows. The joint was jumping again in Dublin tonight, and only after the thrilling sequence of I Will Follow, All Because of You and Beautiful Day was there a pause for breath. Thanks for letting us back in to the country,' explained Bono, reminding people that the band were back to complete their stories of innocence and experience begun three years ago. And then memory took him much further back : 'I was just thinking today about Paul McGuinness, we miss him at a moment like this. In our early days, Edge thought, (and convinced Adam), that he (Adam) should be the manager of the U2 group! …He got cards printed off! Because one day on the way to rehearsals, on the 42 bus, Adam, age 16, did not have his fare and Edge, age 15 was very concerned about that …'cause Adam never had his fare. So the conductor comes up, 'Fares please' and all that. Adam, as cool as Christmas, answers 'Would you mind awfully if I wrote you a cheque?' The conductor, a little stunned. shoots back: 'Kiddo, you don't have a cheque book and I don't need your autograph.' To which Adam says 'Well, here's my address, here is my name... I think you'll see that's legal tender.. and as far as the autograph is concerned, just… give me… time…'
'Innocent boys return tonight to Dublin… as men, daring to believe that at the far end of experience we can again recover that innocence we had when we started out with… here in this city… that's what tonight's about.'

And it was was and they did, from The Blackout to 13 (There is A Light).

Here's the full set list from Dublin 2.

On The Fansites
Greek fan Harry Kantas from U2Songs.com, now living and working for Twitter in Dublin, worked out that this was his 140th U2 show, so we asked him how this one shaped up… in more than 140 characters… (see what we did there?
'Last night was the best of the 2 nights in Dublin so far, in my humble opinion. There was better energy in the crowd. Maybe it was the fact that we queued all day out of the rain! The band were in great form, seemed way more relaxed, since night 1 went down so well. There's always a lot of pressure when you're playing home, and it rarely comes from anywhere else other than yourself, you just want to be the best that you can be. The Dublin crowd were also their best selves. A good mix of Irish fans, with fans from all around the globe, a "Gathering Of The Faithful", as we've been called on other occasions. Last night was a bit of a milestone for me personally, too. My 140th U2 show. That made things extra special. For that reason, I Will Follow served as a flashback throughout this incredible journey. It brought back all the times I've seen this song live, all the way back to my first show in Thessaloniki in 1997 on the POPmart Tour, and then another 10 years before that, when I traded my first U2 cassette with another fan -- I still remember it, PinkPop Festival in Geleen, from 1981. And every single time in between, and up to this very second. There's a lot to be said about sleeping in your own bed after a U2 show, too. The band themselves will always make a big fuss over it, but it's just as rewarding for the fans that follow the tour, it gives you a sense of serenity, makes everything less complicated, and more enjoyable. Highlights from last night's show: I Will Follow, the ZOO TV segment, Get Out Of Your Own Way, and as always, Acrobat! Notable mention: Bono singing the start of The Miracle (of Joey Ramone), after 13. 13 has an obvious, significant role to play as a show closer, even if I would admittedly prefer Love Is Bigger closing the show instead. However, adding the Miracle at the end, the same song that opened the Innocence Tour, completes the circle. Those few seconds made a world of difference, and I hope they make it to the rest of the shows'.

Harry has also added some cool images he took from Dublin 2 to his Zootopia Gallery - check 'em out.

Experience Of The Day
The night when @whenyoungband went to see U2 in Dublin.

On The Socials
nicolasvhe (via Instagram) 'That was an amazing version of THE FLY, Edge you nailed it. THIS IS NOT A REHEARSAL (anymore!) HOW DO YOU DO THAT IN THE DARK? Bono's also asking!'

svenallenbach (via Instagram) 'What a night, what a crowd. Thank you for an unforgettable Dublin experience.'

Tina Niki  (via Facebook)
I've absolutely loved SoI and SoE because it gave me a look at the past when you were boys and a look to the future and how exciting you've developed. Most bands play greatest hits, but not U2! Thank you for another fantastic album and another breath taking tour!

Ciaran Burke (via Facebook) 'Yep Northside of Dublin...They be right up there with Aslan.'

What did Bono / Macphisto Say?
(Bono shoutout to fans during Edges' guitar harmonics section in I Will Follow) : 'From all over the world, we see 'em standing outside in the rain... Brazil, France, Germany, Spain… this is where we live! Tonight is not work, it is joy, pure joy… it always is… especially here, in Bubblin' Dublin!'

(To Ali, during intro to 'You're The Best Thing About Me')
'I'm home. Second night. Even better than the first! (Only a showman would say that…) I looked in the mirror this morning and I saw his face… I saw my father's face… and I got a bit of a fright. I don't know why… he loved you so much… he'd be so proud of those boys… he was a Showman too. I miss him. I miss you. I know I fell in love… I fell in love with the U2 crowd… I met some of them outside today... and they said… “You can have him back, if you want!' I'm here.'

(As Macphisto)
You know, we are THAT close… me and The Donald… THAT close… 'Big Mac' I call him… but actually when I think about it he's more The Burger King… plus, he's put America in a pickle! Tonight the 'Big Mac' has a special on offer for the American people, for one day only… Election Day. The 'Deluxe Make America Hate Again Special'! And you know what, they're lapping it up… he's mashed up the American Dream, smothered it in his white supreme sauce, with a taste of bigotry, some green shoots of racism… no taco's… do..do..do..do..do! I'm loving it!'

U2.com / Zootopia Review
Gregg: 'Tonight was electric! From our perspective, the crowd was much livelier than for the first night, which of course bought out the best in the band. Really looking forward to the weekend!'

Ragoo:  'Unreal show by the band. Incredible! …Acrobat was my absolute highlight! The intro to it was angry, i loved it! New Year's Day never disappoints. Roll on Saturday! Will definitely try and get closer to the small stage.'

I found what I was looking for.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen the Bhoys live. But it was well worth the wait. From the first to last song the performance was unreal. What a show, and the set list was perfect. For the past few months I’ve been watching tour clips on YouTube but none of it prepared me for actually being at one of the shows. Special thanks to my darling wife for a very special birthday present. Can’t wait for the next Album and tour.

Amazing!!!
What an atmosphere in Dublin for night 2 - band and fans loved it! O2, London nights 1 and 2 were fab, but Dublin 2 was amazing! First time for arena gig in Dublin having seen 360 and JT2017 at Croke Park - up close and personal this time in Red Zone - brilliant! A night that will always stay in the memories of me and my wife - thanks U2!

One Love
How many times in life are you so full of joy that you feel truly alive? So moved that you never want it to end? U2 at the 3 Arena on Tuesday 6th November was one of those experiences and so much more. It was fuelled by an exceptional audience - a gathering of believers and dreamers who wanted a home town show that would lift off into the ether - elevation and celebration. Boy did U2 deliver! This beautiful show, this audio visual heaven took us to another place - we sang and cheered and moved as one. Gasping for breath between songs as the relentless joy pulsated all around us and through us - delivered by this band of experience - Larry, Adam, Bono, Edge - shimmering with talent - an incredible contradiction as they stride masterfully through a career spanning set, once more proving their right to the crown of best band in the world - all the while, smiling broadly like teenagers enjoying the pure adrenaline of their first gig where it all came good! Every note, every gesture, every pulse of emotion is executed to perfection by our heroes in the eye of the storm. They make us think, feel, hope, weep, dream and believe and love. Thank you U2 & your crew for all that you do - thank you for making my parents' 70th birthdays perfection, for making our trip to Dublin a joyous pilgrimage, we could never have known how high out of the ordinary you were going to lift us. Cannot wait for the next time, until then my friends, one love x

Fantastic
What a great night it was in the 3 Arena. We see them perform for the second time in their hometown, last year in Crokepark and now in the 3 Arena close by the podium. It was an amazing concert the sound was perfect and the guys show the are still rocking and p;aying with a great joy. Thanks for a fantastic evening. Next time come back to Rotterdam "PLEASE"

Dreams come true (even after 37 years)
My first U2 show was in my, then, hometown Leiden, The Netherlands, at a place called the Stadsgehoorzaal with an audience of 800. Followed the band ever since but never managed to see a show in their hometown Dublin. After 37 years my dream came true: Tuesday November 6 2018 I finally saw them in Ireland at 3Arena in Dublin. And what a show it was.....!!!! Definitely back in Dublin for the next tour!!! Thank you for the memories!!!

Feels like home
Seeing U2 at home is beyond belief for me. For the fact that their home concerts are the best and for the fact that Dublin has been my home for the last 20 years and more. It's a dream come true for my 13 year-old self dancing away and singing Pride to the top of her lungs in her bedroom to bootleg tapes of a live U2 concert (bought from a magazine ad and delivered by post!) and dreaming to be there with the crowds. Tuesday was my 23rd concert, the bulk of which here in Dublin.. I knew I was right to move here! Thank you U2 for being the soundtrack of my life, for giving me courage to be myself and to follow my dreams, for opening my eyes to a wider world than mine, for consoling me at times of loss and for a great entertainment!! I still get the same feeling at live performances than when I listened to those pirated tapes and I thank you for that! See you Friday/Saturday!

The best U2 gig I've been to!
A phenomenal gig! Great to see the lads so relaxed and in such great form. They were absolutely on fire and looked liked they were having the craic on stage too!

Irish and Proud
The guys simply lit up the 3Arena on Tuesday night and standing amongst the multi national crowd it felt really good to proudly announce that you too are Irish. Not only are they the best band on the planet but they alone are the single best ambassadors for this little Nation of hours. Even better than, .... Guinness, leprechauns and even little Michael D our diminutive president. Bring on Saturday and enjoy a well earned rest after Berlin lads.

Welcome Home
Having seen U2 all over the world it’s always special to see them at Home in Dublin. Tuesday night was another amazing journey. Each tour is unique and this one is no different. Despite it arriving close to the end of the Joshua tree tour this is very different. The technology is as always amazing but it serves to compliment the music and isnt the main attraction. In fact watching the band on the main stage against a plan backdrop made me think this is what it must have been like when they set out on their amazing journey all those years ago .Tuesday night showed a band really comfortable with where they are and comfortable in telling their story of the good and the not so good days. The set list was super and they seemed to be at peace with the new modern Ireland . I’ve seen them many many times over the years and this show is up there with their very best ! But then again so we’re all the others , the were all good at the time and they reflected the time.

The Boys are back in town
Tuesday's show was another great gig by U2, even though it was in the 3arena it felt very intimate. As a dub and U2 fan for nearly 30 , theres nothing like seeing them at home. Myself and my friend were positioned near to the e stage and it was fantastic, we had a great view and felt so close to the lads. I felt this tour was a real fans tour and connected really well with the Innocence tour in 2015 and the Joshua tree tour. Its like they were connecting a circleI loved that they played so many songs from Achtung baby. The highlights of the night for me were Stay and Who's going to Ride your Wild Horses. I got very emotional listening to those two songs. I love the little cartoon film on the big screen about the band , although I dont think they used the technology as effectively as they did in 2015. I remember being more mesmerised by the screen back then. Overall the atmosphere was amazing, from the old songs like I will follow and New Years day to the quieter and more emotional moments, ( Stay, Love is Bigger than anything in its Way) A fantastic concert..I wish I was going again. I was totally buzzing after

Home again
I attended this show, and also the one the day before. It's so good to see the boys back in their hometown. So far, it's still in Dublin I saw the best shows, and I saw plenty of U2 concerts since 1987. And last night didn't fail to the tradition. There is an energy, "The Thing" as Bono said, that gets Dublin everytime. Nothing compares to these show in their hometown. Thank you again, guys. I love you. I posted some picture of the show on "U2 France Info" facebook page, which I co-manage. Feel free to have a look ;) Looking forward to see what you got for us in Berlin. Of course, I have my ticket :) See you !

Dublin Tues 6 Nov - Superb!
I’m a lifelong fan that has been going to U2’s Irish gigs since 1987 and they just get better and better. It’s incredible how each of their tours surpasses the last, but one thing remains constant, the superb songs and music. Hands down The Best Band in the World!!! So proud to be Irish and to have a band like U2 to call our own!

The boys are back in town
And they owned the 3 arena! It felt intimate heartbreaking and life affirming. I sang, I danced, I teared up, I laughed, all the emotions and a hell of a lot of Rock N Roll..

A rare old shiver.....
It's a long way from Phoenix Park in 1983 to the 3Arena in 2018 but even after 35 years of going to U2 concerts, seeing this band play live is still a rare old shiver! Great to be so close to the stage again and while the huge video screen was spectacular, it was almost a distraction from the post punk band right in front of us! I never saw U2 in the Dandelion Market, The Baggot Inn or the TV Club but this was just as good. Nobody in this band was giving it less than 100% last night. No songs from 'October', 'Pop' or 'The Joshua Tree' but plenty of material from 'Achtung Baby' 'Atomic Bomb' 'Zooropa' and 'Songs of Experience'. So many highlights, 'Summer of Love', 'The Fly', New Year's Day', 'I Will Follow', 'Elevation', 'Get Out Of Your Own Way', 'Vertigo', Zoo Station', 'There Is A Light' and 'Pride'. Maybe a little too much Bongolese banter between some songs but all blown away by outstanding performances of 'Acrobat' and 'Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses' Great to see McPhisto back for a little cameo too.

From Croker 85 to The Point 2018
Been to quite a few shows around the world since 1985 but never have I seen the band play their hometown with such confidence, poise and class. This was a great show (Monday 5th) and from reading between the lines I fear possibly their fond farewell? Irrespective, the band nailed this performance and despite a somewhat tiresome reference to Brexit, Bono acquitted himself well in his musings about the evolution of the band throughout the years. It was great to hear him pay tribute to the back room team, many of whom I met with and journeyed with during my time with Aer Lingus. It is my contention that we owe U2 a great debt of gratitude for the positive ambassadors they have been for Ireland for several decades now and thankfully I consider myself blessed to have lived in an era of great Irish Rock with U2 leading the way. Bono may have thanked the audience for the great life they have, however, they have earned it and worked bloody hard to maintain the lifestyle to which I hope they will one day have time to recoup the benefits. We also must thank you Edge, Adam, Larry & Bono for giving us the gift of music, generating wealth in our economy (despite the bastards trying to grind you down) and for the words which bring great comfort to many and sometimes great meaning to those who may find themselves sdrowning their sorrows after they have learnt to swim. I hope it’s not the end, but if it is, let me offer an unequivocal declaration of thanks on behalf of my generation born in the 60s and emigrated in the 80s.....Thanks Boys
