Show Report

Second of three shows in Germany on the 2010 European tour and Hannover is jumping. Christian Wulff the President of the Federal Republic of Germany is here, along with Wim Wenders, the President of German movie directors, and long-time friend of the band.(Also spotted in the mix: artist Sam Taylor Wood and actor Aaron Johnson.)

Kassabian get things off to a seriously rocking start again and before you know it we're into The Return of the Stingray Guitar. 'Danke Hannover, Thank you for coming, thank you for tonight.'

Bit of a first when Bono slips into extra-terrestrial, alien-creature vocal mode to ask everyone how they're finding 'our space-ship'.
'We come from a small green planet called Ireland, but we love it here in Germany...' We hear there are festivals in this area devoted just to drinking beer and eating....we think this is a good idea, please continue to do it.'

That went down well, as did his introductions to the rest of the band - characters from Star Wars. 'On guitar, R2D2 The Edge; On bass guitar, Princess Laia Adam Clayton; on the drums, Darth Vader - Larry Mullen.'

Where will the space theme take the show next? We were following on Twitter as well tonight, amazing to see so many people experiencing the show remotely. 'Shout out to those watching on the Fan Feed on U2.com! Welcome to all U2ers! No matter where you are from, tonight we are ONE online!'

Mysterious Ways spills into Elevation and there is loud appreciation when Bono thanks the German medics who looked after him through his recent injury. Got to be a special song to follow 'Still Haven't Found' and 'Glastonbury' might be that song - great reception tonight.

Big moment too when Bono invites a young woman up on stage to join the band for City of Blinding Lights. The set takes us on a journey, via the 'Crazy' remix and Sunday Bloody Sunday, across Europe, 'down to Istanbul, across the Bosphorus Bridge, down into Asia and the country of Burma
'We send a message from the people of Hannover for Aung San Suu Kyi..'

Tonight we also learn that Paul McGuinness was born in Hannover '125 years ago' and that it is Wim Wenders birthday - ' a mentor, a guide'. And we remember Robert Enke, the German international goalkeeper who lost his life in this city. Powerful moment when Larry stands up on the drum riser - wearing a Hannover 96 shirt.

That's some highlights of the show from us - but how was it for you ?

Were you at the show tonight ? Add your highlights - and upload your photos.

And if you weren't there, check out more photos, video and the full set list - and tell us what you think.

Better than 2009
After joining the show 2009 in Gelsenkirchen ("auf Schalke") I have to say: the light show was a little bit more gigiantic!! Only a little bit modification but very, very good! The highlight again was "the unforgettable fire". Great effects and great music. Really amazing for me: my wife is now a U2-fan. Hoping to join in munich again. DANKESCHOEN !!!

There is always something new to discover in your shows, it´s never the same like before. Can't wait to see you again on stage in Europe. Please don't wait too long to come around again , maybe there's a chance to end the Tour 2011 in Europe or to perform in 2012 around here with new songs. Really looking forward to it. Thank you :*
It was really great show, but I didn't expect it to be that personal. It was Moment of Surrender - the greatest moment for me, most intimate. The last oooos was like pulling out my heart and screaming for life. The dedication was of course for Robert Enke, which itself was very touching. But thanks to this dedication I realised this is the song about me, about my life, about everything I came through. It was just katharsis for me. Thank you guys for this. You reach the places in my heart noone else can. I don't know how you do it but please continue :)

made in germany
I don't know what those German doctors did to Bono, but for me, it was by far the best, most inspired U2 concert I have ever been to, and certainly the best of the 4 concerts of the 360 tour which I attended....it even beat Wembley 2009, as far as I am concerned. Until the end of the World was simply out of this world! Can't wait to drive down to Munich in September. Thank you so much!

way to the concert
Thanks to U2! My way to the concert and back was 3100 km (yes, 3 thousand) and every km was worth it. The night was great, however Chorzow in 2009 was the BEST! greetings from Latvia

Great show in Hannover
Yesterday was my second show of the 360° Tour and I must say, that was a great show. Especially Bono was in a good condition and the show was different from the 2009 show in Berlin, perfect! Good luck for the next shows. Maybe see you in Munich.

Use 360 stage
I've seen a lot of U2 shows. This one was my second 360 show. I've noticed that U2 has a 360 podium, but uses 180. They just played a lot in the front, not in the back. Well, there are also people there who want to see Bono, the Edge and Adam to. But, the show was great, as always. Greetings René

HANNOVER SKY
I've seen U2360 several times, but we went specially to Hannover to see this show without a (f*ckng) roof above our heads. Let me tell you.... it was certainly worth the 11 hour drive! Super Claw and MEGA sound in the open air!! Memorable: Moment of Surrender Janine (made in Holland:)

Hell, YEAH!
Thanks guys for a really great show in Hannover last night. 400 km there and 400 km back again that night have been worth every meter ;-) . I liked the show even more than the gig in Frankfurt - especially since the sound was enormously better!!! I hope you enjoyed it too, and that we can see you back here in Germany soon. Rock on!

Unforgettable Moments
'Moment of Surrender' for Robert Enke and Larry wearing a Hannover 96 shirt! After this great show (my 5th U2 gig, excellent sound, but missed 'Unknown Caller' and 'Running to Stand Still', my favourite song over the last 23 years), did I dream? Mr. 'Until the End of the World' Wim Wenders standing at a bus stop nearby the stadium. Happy birthday Wim!
