Show Report
It was like they'd never been away. Opening up with a brand new song, one of three in the set, U2 returned to the stage in Torino tonight with a blistering 24-song set. 'It's very good to be back with you, 'said Bono. 'Bellissimo Torino...'

Arriving on stage to a new instrumental track titled 'Return of the Stingray Guitar', Bono was immediately racing the circumference of the huge 360° production, serenading every corner of the capacity audience: 'Torino, Torino...'

From the unmistakeable opening chords of Beautiful Day to the closing benediction of 'Moment of Surrender', two and a quarter hours later, the capacity Italian audience powered the show into orbit.

Mixing up the set list with songs from eight different albums, the band also debuted two more new songs: 'Glastonbury' a driving, guitar-led rock number inspired by the UK summer festival, and an acoustic version of a meditative ballad, 'North Star', described by Bono as ' a love song to the universe'.

Any U2 show is a celebration but this was a special night with the band back on stage and playing live for the first time in nine months. It was a bit of a family occasion.

'You care a lot about family in Italy, right?' asked Bono. 'This band is also a family: the black sheep of the family, Adam Clayton on bass guitar; on the drums, the baby of the band, Larry Mullen Jnr; and The Edge, our middle child... it's his birthday on Sunday.'

Cue 40,000 Italians singing Happy Birthday to Edge.

'And I'm the prodigal son,' continued Bono. 'And I want to thank you for all the love and letters you've sent me in recent months, thanks for that. That's in the past now and I'm very much fit for the future...'

It was a seriously fit performance from band and production tonight, with a dazzling creative makeover in the on-screen visuals complementing the surprises in the set list which also included the rarely performed 'Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me', theme tune of the Batman Forever movie and 'Miss Sarajevo', originally written for and performed with Luciano Pavarotti. No-one knows how to sing opera like these people.

That's a few highlights from us but your views are what we're looking for. Read them below and leave us yours...

Torinooooooo...First time in the Pit
Just amazing. I can't never imagine that one day I would have been so near to the band! Only a word could describe the show in its entirety: perfect. Bono was in perfect condition (and the standing ovation of Larry is the proof of that). If it was just for his back, then he should get hurt more often! ;)

Spasibo, guys!!!
It was the first time when we saw U2 live. After 20 years of being in love with their great music, after thousands hours of listening CDs and watching DVDs, the only wish was to see how it happens in real. And thanks to God, Live Nation and of course SAV Entertainment, we put our boots on Stadio Olimpico in Turin, Italy, where our long time favorites just started European leg of their 360° Tour. Band was arriving on stage during new instrumental intro track «Return of the Stingray Guitar». Bono made a circle around huge 360° stage, shouting «Torino, Torino!» Crowd was immediately mad, and it goes through all 24 tracks from opening «Beautiful Day» to the closing «Moment of Surrender», more than two magic hours of U2 performance. Need to say, Bono was in fine form and seems fully recovered from the back injury which last year postponed big portion of U2 concerts in America. By the way, Bono said «thank you» for all the love and letters which were sent to him in recent months. As always band presented songs from various periods of their career, the band also debuted two new songs: driving up-tempo rock song «Glastonbury», inspired by the famous UK Summer Festival, and an acoustic version of slow ballad «North Star», with a very romantic chorus. In addition to the new songs, the set featured tour debuts: «Miss Sarajevo» (Bono sang it in Italian!), «Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me» and a snippet of «Discotheque» inside of «I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight». After «Mysterious Ways» Bono informed public about special occasion that night - Edge's Birthday (he turns 49 on Sunday)! And 40 000 fans sang «Happy Birthday to Edge!» As we already said it was our first U2 gig, so we can't really describe how we feel, 'cos we are still full of incredible emotions, but surely it's one of the most amazing performances we ever seen! Powerful show, unbelievable stage construction, big and very enthusiastic crowd. And we even felt tears of joy in our eyes while Bono singing «Sunday Bloody Sunday», that was really strong emotion! So thank you guys! Grazie ragazzi! Bravissimi! Spasibo!!! Now we can say: U2 are back on the road, and soon they will come to Moscow with amazing 360° show that nobody can miss! See you all on August 25th in «Luzhnki»! SHOUT! Online www.shout.ru music we like

Everything was worth for that!
Now I'm home, after work, can relax and look at pictures of that wonderful night; I think I've never been so excited before going to a U2 concert like this time: the idea of watching them only one year later, the thought about Bono's health...and when it began, all the weakness from the journey to Turin vanished and I only sang along. Stingray guitar rocks, North Star made me almost cry, for Glastonbury I still have to make a mind! Watching them from the mixer was a good record for me, and I was too happy to see again Bono smiling like a child, thinking about the future after the back incident... SEE YOU IN (my) ROME GUYS!!!!! It will be the best birthday present ever (10 days before but it's ok LOL)

One week to go
Counting the minutes, in less than a week we will meet in Horsens and if you bring most of the songs from this set list we cannot go wrong! Love that Hold me, thrill me... is on the list, please please keep it on for both Horsens and Paris. Would not mind though if Breathe is added to the list as well :-) Btw HAPPY BDAY EDGE
