Guitar Hero Edge, UK TV Saturday

23 Mar 2001
Edge features in Channel Four's Top Ten Guitar Heroes on UK TV this Saturday night.

British rock veterans Status Quo lead viewers through what the programme notes describe as 'the twenty-first century phenomenon of the guitar hero, counting down the ten most successful and revealing legendary stories of egos, talent and excess.'

Labelled a genius by BB KING the blues legend Eric Clapton has had his fair share of success, excess and tragedy. Phil Collins summarises, 'Eric seems to me a guy that all through his life has gone to the edge, and has come back'.

Jimmi Hendrix, who had hits with Hey Joe, Voodoo Chile and Star Spangled Banner, must have been an alien according to Oasis's Noel Gallagher.

Advice from the king of the comeback Carlos Santana is succinct: 'A spiritual orgasm is what people need to have'.

At the age of 17 The Edge decided to be the best guitarist in the world - now he makes it into the latest Top Ten, which is, (in alphabetical order), BRIAN MAY, CARLOS SANTANA, ERIC CLAPTON, HANK MARVIN, JIMI HENDRIX, JIMMY PAGE, JOHNNY MARR, PETE TOWNSHEND, RITCHIE BLACKMORE and THE EDGE.
